Checking the head pressure of a low pressure community system in Grand Traverse County

Home

We are a septic system operation, maintenance , and inspection company. We are certified to maintain and operate community systems in the State of Michigan up to 1000 population.  Most of these systems are along the lakes in the area. Since the cost of pumping a holding tank has increased many associations have combined efforts to acquire a suitable area of land that  will allow for a drainfield large enough to handle the flows from the homes in the association. A septic tank with a pump chamber or a grinder pump chamber is located at the home and the effluent or sewage is pumped to the approved area for below ground discharge.

If there is not an association a home owner may be able to install an alternative treatment system (ATS). These systems filter the effluent so that it may be discharged with less distance from the high ground water mark to the bottom of the drainfield. In Grand Traverse County a 4 foot separation from the high ground water mark to the bottom of the drainfield is required unless you install an ATS. By installing the ATS the distance may be reduced to 1.5 feet.

Kalkaska and Manistee County require a well and septic inspection prior selling your home. Long Lake Township in Grand Traverse County requires only the septic to be inspected. Benzie County requires a well and septic inspection but they do not accept private inspectors to complete the inspection.
